ty, I would stuff the squirrel down a big flashy dirt hole set and put some leaves or dirt over it with a little bit of the hair showing. This way the critters will have to work you set for the bait giving you a better shot of putting the trap around there foot. Hope this helps. I use 3" to 4" dirt hole 10" to 12" deep when possible.

Squirrel is moving for a dollar or so for a good pelt. Check the adds section of Fur-Fish-Game, there is an advertisment there with a number to call and a website as well I believe.

Fresh bait, meat more so than others, can be picked off by alot of various types of critters. If at all possible check for tracks around your set. Birds of prey would not think twice about taking a squirrel if it was uncovered and they could see it. Eye appeal is important but stay with the basics before you get too fancy.
A catch is a catch. You were just more on location for the squirrle with that set. Kudos trapper324., You still have plenty of time.
